Vascular Plants of an Oklahoma Tallgrass Prairie
| Taxonomic Group | Herbaceous plants, Woody Plants |
| Level of Organization | Population, Community |
| Scale | Local |
| Data Type | Observational, Time series |
| Data Retriever | Yes |
| Georeferenced | Yes |
This dataset describes 12 years of vascular plant composition at the Tallgrass Prairie Reserve in Oklahoma measured at multiple spatial scales at a local level.
Dataset Location: Ecological Archives
Site Location: Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, Osage County, Oklahoma (36.73^(o) - 36.90^(o)N, 96.32^(o) - 96.49^(o)W)
Sites Georeferenced: Yes
Timespan: 1998-2009
Sampling Frequency: Once annually, June
Methods: Twenty plots (100m²) with no greater than 20% cover of woody plants, standing water, or exposed rock are established randomly within the study site. Each plot has nested subplots of size 0.01, 0.1, 1, and 10m². Plants are identifiedl, adsigned to the smallest subplot it inhabits, and estimated for total cover. Climate data and fire events are also available.
Data Collected: species, richness, scale, cover, GPS, tallest individual (grass, forb, woody plant), soil characteristics, precipitation, temperature, bison grazing, fire events
