Rain Forest Vertebrates of Australia

Overview:

242 vertebrate species are described within this datset including information on life history traits, species distribution maps and phylogenetics.

Dataset Location: Ecological Archives

Site Location: Australian Wet Tropics, northeastern Queensland (between -16.5 - 19.5oN)

Sites Georefferenced: Output includes GPS layers

Methods: Life history attributed were acquired from individual sampling, as well as from the literature. Distributional data were collected during field surveys, as well as from the literature and institutional databases (ala Williams, S. E. 2006. Vertebrates of the wet tropics rainforests of Australia: species distributions and biodiversity. Cooperative Research Centre for Tropical Rainforest Ecology and Management. Rainforest CRC, Cairns, Australia.) Species distributional maps were constructed using maximum entropy modeling.

Data Collected: Life history characteristics - species, mass, size, dimorphism, reproduction, lifespan, dispersal; Distribution - occurences, area of distribution (core, realized, potential), elevation, temperature, precipitation
