Understory Vegetation of Quebec

This dataset contains nine years (1998-2006) of understory vegetation sampling along an elevation gradient in a recovering forest in Quebec from logging and fire disturbance.

Dataset Location: Ecological Archives

Site Location: Station de Biologie des Laurentides, St. Hippolyte, Quebec, Canada (46o58' - 46o01' N, 73o57' - 74o01' W)

Sites Georefferenced: Yes

Timespan: 1998-2006

Sampling Frequency: annual

Methods: Annual resampling is conducted on 43 permanent 400 m2 plots along five parallel transects. Transects are run along an elevational gradient from lakeside to hilltop. All understory vascualr plants are counted.

Data collected: tree seedling, herbs, and shub abundance and cover; slope, rockiness, canopy openness, age of largest tree, basal area of mature trees, soil variables
