Understory Vegetation of Quebec

Overview: 

This dataset contains nine years (1998-2006) of understory vegetation sampling along an elevation gradient in a recovering forest in Quebec from logging and fire disturbance.

Methods: Annual resampling is conducted on 43 permanent 400 m2 plots along five parallel transects. Transects are run along an elevational gradient from lakeside to hilltop. All understory vascualr plants are counted.

Data collected: tree seedling, herbs, and shub abundance and cover; slope, rockiness, canopy openness, age of largest tree, basal area of mature trees, soil variables
