Overview:
A compliation of marine zooplankton occurance from sample collections, species information, community genes and genomes, and BLAST search. are available at OBIS. The OBIS compiled data includes species name, individual count, lat/lon, and some environmental correlates like depth and salinity.

Data Collection Summary / Methods: Data compiled from global collections for the North Pacific region. Four search systems were used to collect data: sample collections, species information, community genes and genomes, and BLAST search.
Data collected: species id, location, genome
OBIS data schema: species name, individual count, date, location, temperature, depth, salinity, nitrogen, oxygen, silicate.
Known Issues: The species ocurence were collected from various samples and collections.
Best Practices: tips for separating the wheat from the chaff
Conditions for use: 'freely available' and 'open-access' as per OBIS: http://iobis.org/about/vision
From the CMarZ Data Acknwoledgement Policy - "Any person making substantial use of a data set must communicate with the investigators who acquired the data prior to publication and anticipate that the data collectors will be co-authors of published results. This extends to model results and to data organized for retrospective studies."
