Overview:

This dataset contains twenty years (1990-2010) of tree demography in a permanent sample plot containing 3870 Dipterocarp species in the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sannctuary of India's Western Ghats.

Dataset Location: Ecological Archives

Site Location: Uppangala Permanant Sample Plots, Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary ( 12°35′N,  75°40′E)

Sampling Frequency: 3-5 years (1990-1993, 1994, 1997-1998, 2001-2002, 2007, 2010)

Methods: All trees > 30 cm girth at breast height were sampled on five N-S transects 20 m wide and 180-370 m long. The initial sample in 1989-1990 totaled 3.12 ha which was expanded to 5.07 ha when additional plots were established in 1992-1993. All trees are identified, mapped, tagges and provided with permanent dendrometer bands.

Data Collected: speceis, girth at breast height, recruitment, mortality, growth, Cartesian coordinate.
